1951.jpgWho would have thought that something that was an everyday fixture for some people during the post-war years would enjoy a revival in popularity in the early years of the 21st century? Such is the so-called 1951 chair produced by Emeco in the year – yes, you guessed it – 1951. Apparently one of those chairs was sold online via eBay, and this prompted the company to update its design while still remaining true to the chair’s original look.

Navy hospitals were the establishments for which the chairs were designed back then. With today’s re-interpreted look, they can be used in other settings too: as commercial café furniture, seating in the home, or as bistro chairs. Made mostly from anodized brushed aluminum (as the original was) and ABS plastic, it is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Also, it’s made from recycled materials, thus earning the reputation of being “eco-friendly.”
