Creating Your Very Own Rustic Furniture
Categories: Uncategorized
Rustic suggests lodges and ranches. It focuses on uncompleted or distraught, dark woods. A rustic TV stand would perfectly suit a country home or an urban residence.
Rustic furniture is sometimes known as ?unfinished furniture? which means different things to different people. To some, it?s the capability to take incomplete fixtures and produce their own look and designs with their own hands. To others, unfinished furniture is about the choice and skill to furnish the home with a professionally finished piece.
A ‘how to’ guide to create your own rustic furniture:
By following these steps you can make your very own ?unfinished furniture?
1. Start by examining the piece. Look for any marks or grime. Rub down off the wood using sandpaper and then dust it off.
2. Wipe the stain on using a brush. Instantaneously wipe the stain off with a lint free material. Use 2 clothes, one for the surplus and one to fine tune.
3. Once the stain has dried out, do an additional coat if you want it darker. Let it dry during the night.
4. Then apply a sealer or clear coat, usually polyurethane.
5. Spray on polyurethane is simple to use and reasonably priced. Or just cautiously brush it on, be sure to watch for runs.
6. Let it dry and then do 2 more layers.
7. After 3 layers rub it down real good with sandpaper and then dust it off.
Painting your finished piece:
1. Constantly examine and pre sand.
2. Apply 2 coats of primer then let it dry.
3. Apply paint by brush or spray paint can. Let paint dry. Repeat.
4. Apply 2 coats of spray polyurethane.
